15 Runners Suffer from Heat-Related Illness in Pasadena Half Marathon
The toll of Pasadena Half Marathon participants who were overcome by heat was raised to 15, with six of them taken to the hospital amid the high temperature and high humidity level. When the runners embarked on their routes at 6:30 a.m., the temperature was already a high 75 degrees, which climbed to 80 degrees by the time the first runners began crossing the finish line. Pasadena Marathon downgraded to half-marathon status
On its fifth anniversary, Pasadena Marathon has been downgraded to half-marathon status because city officials say the low number of entries for last year's full 26.2-mile event doesn't justify closing down wide areas of the city in 2013. (5/1/13) Courtesy of the Pasadena Star News.
Pasadena Marathon 2012
About 7,000 runners took part in the fourth Pasadena Marathon on Sunday, the first marathon without rain since its inception. Dan Springborn, of Kingman, Ariz., was listed as the overall marathon winner with a time of 2 hours, 47 minutes, 17 seconds. Mandy Grantz, 25, was the top women’s finisher for the third straight year. She finished in 2:58:44, slower than last year’s time of 2:45:53. (5/20/2012) Courtesy of the Pasadena Star News.
